Pinedale Mesa

The students have spent alot of time in the classroom discussing various topics about conservation.  The main topic has been trying to get the Sage Grouse on tbe endangered species list.  The Sage Grouse mates in an area called a "lek" and the students went on a field trip today to Pinedale-mesa to see what a Lek looks like and to find out where the grouse mates.  The problem is this is in the middle of a huge natural gas field.  Good conversation between students and teachers:).

After we returned from our field trip we took the kids out to teach them how to read a compass.  It was pretty cool to see the kids get away from technology and learn a survival skill.

Tomorrow morning we will taking the campers up the mountain 4 miles to camp.  It will be all primative and the kids have to work as a team to prepare their food and set up tents and tore down tents and come back home....so I will not have an update for you tomorrow...but I hope to have some cool picts to show you on Tuesday.

BTW...several of you have asked about the weather...I wake up to 50 degrees and the high is around 82-85 with zero humidity.:)
